Initial Consultation and 3D Design

Site Preparation and Excavation

Proper site preparation is crucial for long-lasting paver installations. Our team begins by marking utilities and obtaining necessary permits. We then excavate to the appropriate depth, typically 8-12 inches depending on the application and soil conditions. This excavation includes removing existing materials, grading for proper drainage, and compacting the subgrade.

For areas with poor soil conditions, we may recommend additional measures such as geotextile fabric installation or soil stabilization to ensure your pavers remain level and stable for years to come.

Base Installation and Compaction

We install a properly graded base layer using crushed stone or gravel, typically 4-6 inches thick for pedestrian areas and 6-8 inches for vehicular applications. This base is installed in lifts and compacted using professional-grade equipment to achieve optimal density. Proper base preparation prevents settling and ensures your pavers maintain their level surface over time.

Edge Restraint Installation

Professional edge restraints are essential for preventing paver movement and maintaining clean, straight edges. We install concrete, plastic, or steel edge restraints around the perimeter of your installation, securing them with spikes driven into the compacted base. These restraints are typically hidden below the finished grade for a clean appearance.

Sand Bedding and Paver Installation

A one-inch layer of bedding sand is screeded to create a perfectly level surface for paver placement. Our skilled installers then hand-place each paver according to the approved pattern, maintaining consistent joint spacing and checking for level throughout the process. We work systematically across the installation area, ensuring tight joints and proper alignment.

Cutting and Fitting

Professional installations require precise cutting to accommodate curves, obstacles, and border areas. Our team uses diamond-blade saws and specialized cutting equipment to create clean, accurate cuts that maintain the integrity of the paver structure while achieving perfect fits around existing features.

Joint Sand Application and Compaction

Once all pavers are installed, we sweep polymeric sand into the joints and compact the entire surface using a plate compactor with protective pads. This process locks the pavers together, prevents weed growth, and creates a stable, unified surface. The polymeric sand hardens when activated with water, creating strong, flexible joints that resist erosion.

Final Cleanup and Sealing

We complete every installation with thorough cleanup, removing all construction debris and excess materials. For enhanced protection and appearance, we offer optional sealing services that protect against stains, enhance color, and extend the life of your investment.
